Who We Are

About Isle Sleep

The Isle of Man's first dedicated private adult sleep diagnostic service.

The Service

Why Isle Sleep exists

Sleep-disordered breathing affects a significant proportion of the adult population — yet the pathway to diagnosis on the Isle of Man, as in much of the UK, has historically involved lengthy NHS waiting times. For many patients, a referral from their GP to a sleep or respiratory clinic can mean a wait of many months before any assessment takes place.

Isle Sleep was established to fill that gap. We offer direct-access private sleep diagnostics using clinically validated equipment, with every study reviewed by a qualified respiratory consultant. The result is a meaningful diagnosis — not a screening tool — available promptly and locally.

There is no comparable service on the island. We take that responsibility seriously.

Clinical Credibility

Every study is reviewed by a qualified respiratory consultant. Results are clinically defensible and suitable for insurance, GP correspondence, and treatment decisions.

Privacy & Discretion

Private care in a private setting. No hospital waiting rooms. No referral queues. A service built around the patient, not around institutional throughput.

Island Rooted

Part of Barrule Medical Group — an established Isle of Man private medical practice. We are not a remote telemedicine service; we are here, on the island.

Our Parent Organisation

Barrule Medical Group

Isle Sleep operates within Barrule Medical Group, a private medical practice serving the Isle of Man. BMG provides a range of specialist services including ENT surgery, weight management, allergy testing, and aesthetic medicine — offering patients a genuinely integrated clinical pathway under one roof.

This integration matters for sleep patients. A diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnoea does not exist in isolation — it may be connected to weight, nasal anatomy, allergy, or other factors. Within BMG, onward referral to the appropriate specialist is straightforward.

Isle Sleep shares BMG's values: clinical excellence, patient-centred care, and a commitment to the island community.

Clinical Governance

Our Clinical Team

Telehealth Respiratory Consultant

[Consultant name]

All Isle Sleep recordings are reviewed by a qualified respiratory consultant with specialist expertise in sleep-disordered breathing. The consultant issues a signed written diagnostic report for every study.

Consultant credentials and biography to be confirmed before publication.

ENT Surgery

Mr. Hogg

Where sleep-disordered breathing has a structural or anatomical component — nasal obstruction, tonsillar hypertrophy, or other upper airway factors — patients can be referred directly to Mr. Hogg for ENT surgical assessment within Barrule Medical Group.

This integrated pathway removes the need to seek an external ENT referral and ensures continuity of clinical oversight throughout the diagnostic and treatment process.

Diagnostic Equipment

The Stowood Black Flash

We use the Stowood Black Flash — a clinically validated ambulatory sleep recording device used extensively in NHS and private sleep medicine services across the UK. It was selected for its diagnostic reliability, patient tolerance, and the quality of data it provides for consultant review.

The device measures airflow, peripheral blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, body position, snoring, and respiratory effort — providing a comprehensive polysomnographic data set without requiring a hospital admission.

For treatment, we use the Philips DreamStation 2 CPAP Advanced — one of the most clinically established CPAP platforms available, with integrated compliance monitoring and remote data access for follow-up review.

Why equipment choice matters. The quality of diagnostic data directly affects the quality of the diagnosis. We do not use consumer-grade or wrist-only sleep trackers. The Stowood Black Flash is the same class of device used in NHS sleep centres across the UK.

Compliance monitoring. DreamStation 2 devices record nightly usage data accessible via the Care Orchestrator platform, allowing our clinical team to review CPAP compliance and adjust therapy remotely — reducing the need for frequent in-person follow-up appointments.
